A little less alone than before Using all my hours up like shore leave, car thieves, on the open road with no fixed abode A little less alone than before Climbing out my hole, see the sunrise ringside Breaking out of jail on a vapour trail A little less alone than before Why don’t you come back my way? Oh Millie why don’t you come back my way? Millie I do wish I could resist, but this slut is lying on the seat like a bridal suite A little less alone than before We make the quantum leap from her popcorn to hard porn in seven minutes flat, what Millie do you think of that? A little less alone than before Why don’t you come back my way? Oh Millie why don’t you come back my way? Does it count when there are no pillows? Who knows… The power of denial, Walter Mathau style A little less alone than before Loves flaws are laid bare in this short PowerPoint show where by the end you’re pleased that someone’s loving me A little less alone than…oh Millie why don’t you come back my way? Millie why don’t you come back my way? Oh Millie why don’t you come back my way? Millie why don’t you come back my way?

Iam5am 04:30
IAM5AM Waking again for no good reason Hammering in the head & at the door. Let ‘em all in… The corners are filling up with people Some in the kitchen, others on the stairs, not enough chairs. They come here every night, my lunatic tribe Over the edge I go, my fault for looking down They sing out of tune & you sleep right on through Over the edge I go my fault for looking down I’m resolving, I am 5A.M Give up the sleep and join the party I know that Doctor Rosen would be proud. I’m fighting it with… Hot chorus girls who sing right at ‘ya Leggy & loud twopenny opera town. Oh get a round in. They come here every night, my lunatic tribe Over the edge I go, my fault for looking down They sing out of tune & you sleep right on through Over the edge I go my fault for looking down I’m resolving, I am 5A.M 5A.M is the seat of my worries Come visit me in headquarter café

Home 04:31
Home Home is the place where the walls complain They sit around and laugh at me all day they’re spitting lightning & balls of angry but eating thunder’s leaving me hungry Down on the corner is a fortune hag she pulls scrabble letters from a black circle bag lays ‘em out & says “village green & a rural home 2 dogs, 1 cat, fencepost for a headstone”. Sleeping on my best decision never changed the choices taken Maybe if I Changed Find yourself a home ’til you have somewhere to go You’ll always be alone Right down to the bone always be alone There goes the siren and the hermit’s loose We’ll all show up to round up the recluse and we’ll say pity about that and pity about this and leave us alone now for pity’s sake please Drunkwater isn’t even on the map It’s over the edge & sort of tucked in round the back It’s the sort of place that you don’t leave from A hotel room in a back and beyond town Sleeping on my best decision never changed the choices taken Maybe if I Changed Find yourself a home…

Space 03:28
Space Space come to me, I don’t need anything more to breathe Built my own legacy of defeat all by myself Down comes the sky answering my prayer in double time lighting up everything in sight, I try to hide, nowhere to hide You have only here to hide a man inside, a child inside, a man inside You have only here to hide a man inside, a child inside, a man inside Roll back the time to the amphibian curled inside blowing from shore to shore on the tide Crawled on our knees ‘till things were reachable in the trees seems we’ve been evolving just to please someone inside You have only here to hide… When came the word, at midday on October 23rd We were hammering out the curve, nowhere to hide You have only here to hide…

I’m happy you’re happy I’m happy you’re happy, happy with less contentment with mediocrity is the best It comforts and cradles and pulls at your hand and promises riches right up ‘till you land on the roadside laughing like you never had a bad ride A perfect inhibition or a bad line laughing like you never had a bad ride Waiting in the rain I don’t mean to libel or sully your name but we have been looking for someone to blame full ripe for the taking with nothing to gain and just when we gave up, well along you came on the roadside laughing like you never had a bad ride A perfect inhibition or a bad line laughing like you’ve never had a bad ride Waiting in the rain

Chinese blue 04:56
Chinese Blue Chinese blue will get you & you’ll never know you’re had You’re looking through prescriptions to remind you what you’ve got and you are tired of living on a willow pattern plate slowly turning into Chinese blue Throw your switches, get the rifles out, there’s a ghost in every corner of the house Crowbar gypsies in a 504 lie in wait in the shadows at the gate Chinese blue will get you & you’ll never know you’re had… Goodnight sweetheart take a last look now, going down, rabbit holing out of range The man who’ll wake up may not know your face He’s been down and then back up through the drains Chinese blue will get you…

I fancy you like me Whether or not you believe in it, now is the time to hear the grinding gears that break your spirit, leaving only fear and separates everyone we know by six degrees But I fancy you like me Back when a parked car was our palace some would be bound to say that there was nothing unique about us, I answer either way If everyone shared DNA to the nth degree I’d still fancy you like me Here is a picture with me in it, I don’t want you to know ’cause everyone is their own worse critic and the 80’s were a joke All the looks I’ve had before are history now I fancy you like me
8.
The Scientist Late one night in the dark, blue collar scientist is pulling theories apart through lack of evidence he’s drifting, tuning out One eye curled up to sleep the other opening and now he’s starting to see things in the microscope oh monads here we go Even in the darkest place infinite space a crowded mothball room Pulling on a vinyl shift, a shopping list a half remembered tune will come back to you Well here he is on a chair, he’s rocking to & fro & his big idea of fame is squeezing lemons at the horse of the year show Shouting four letter words up on the balcony the Pope is ready to go out for some R&D he works the kosher crowd Even in the darkest place, infinite space… Will the universe be over when I find a four leafed clover?
9.
Laughing jack Your melancholy fallen to new heights Your seven cars are tired of pulling seven brothers Pull on your laughing gas mask and laugh all the way and back You’re not called laughing jack for nowt Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha…. Your lemonade inspires desires You’ve come of age in a world where nothing really matters so Pull on your laughing gas mask and laugh all the way and back… Gone Polaroid, all done with existing she’ll be annoyed as a most deserving little sister should Pull on your laughing gas mask and laugh all the way and back…

Cardboard dog I have a cardboard dog I built from boxes I made him from an empty packing crate leftover cartons, an eggbox and glue He’s not a Crufts contender but he’ll do Some days I take him to the seaside, low tide He spins around & sprays me as he dries off Salty cardboard flies apart I mend him with some Sellotape… At night as he curls up under the table wrapped in an elaborate belief That he grew up slowly from a matchbox and with that thought he lulls himself to sleep From closely watching other dogs in action he’s learnt to bark and sit and guard my car People pass and say “oh look a cardboard dog They just don’t make them like that anymore” At night as he curls up under the table wrapped in an elaborate belief That he grew up slowly from a matchbox and with that thought he lulls himself… and one day I know that I will tell him that I also made the table & the sea But his story is holding increasing water but lets just keep that between you and me

Nightbus 06:47
Nightbus I’m leaving hills, I’m leaving town, I’m leaving friends, I’m leaving everything Cannot breathe this solid air I’m getting away on the nightbus I’m sick of faces I know well Don’t want to turn into people who dig holes and pull you in They said I was dirt, I believed them I’m leaving you I’m changing everything about me I don’t want nobody here reminding me how frightened I can be I’m waiting tables, I’m in charge I swear you won’t recognise me I’m cutting my hair, I’m getting a room This is the life here believe me I broke the sadness, breathed upon that part of me that’s the coldest I don’t believe you don’t believe I left a key with the Jones’s I’m leaving you I’m changing everything about me… There is a place where my slate is clean I’m leaving now I’m going soon I’m getting away on the nightbus The sky is falling on this town You’re never alone on the nightbus Don’t look back or turn around I’m getting away on the nightbus That diesel air I’ll breathe. I’ll send for you when I get there When I get there...
